Maysville – Ralph D. Gelter, 68, of US 62 in Maysville, passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2006 at the VA Medical Center in Lexington.

Mr. Gelter was born in Cherry Fork on March 26, 1937, to the late Lorin and Grace Rickey Gelter. He was retired from the Dayton Power and Light Company where he had worked as a control room operator at the J.M. Stuart Station. He had also worked 25 years as a Mason County Deputy Jailer and had been a Maysville Police Officer. His love for gardening kept him busy in his spare time.

Survivors include a son, Todd Gelter, and a daughter, Kellie Gelter, both of Maysville; two brothers Frank (Patsy) Gelter of Winchester, Ohio and Charles Gelter of Russellville; six sisters, Alice Dailey, of Ripley, Vivian (Jim) Farley of Mt. Orab, and Dorothy Manlief of Moores Hill, Indiana, Sadie (Nelson) Allen of Chillicothe, and Norvilla Wright and Minnie Foster, both of Seaman. One brother, Howard Gelter preceded him in death.

Services for Ralph Gelter will be held Friday, February 3, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at Brell & Son Funeral Home with Rev Harry Brooks officiating.

Burial will follow in the Maysville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jim Farley, John Mattingly, Donnie Young, Larry Boone, Stanley Gulley, and Roger Smith.

Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m.
