Judge McNeill has done a good job as the current judge. I have not made up my mind as to who i will vote for.

I respect your opinion, but you should follow the link I provided in my earlier post. The fact of the matter is, my family is not the only ones who have suffered from his (McNeal) lack of experience dealing with families, and I base this from my trial, he said “I’ve only been doing this a year and a half; I hope I’m making the right decision”. The Ledger has printed my story and several others. I would be happy to show you the news paper article and the video tape from my court proceedings. My little girl still suffers from his poor decision. Therefore I will do what ever it takes to spread the word; so that Maysville citizens realize the truth, we need a Judge who makes the right decision on facts, compassion and recommendations given to him/her by other professionals such as Child Protection Services, Maysville Detectives, and Counselors, not on hope.

I read the several articles The Ledger printed about this case, including a letter to the editor from Cheryl Love at the Children's Advocacy Center, she said something like McNeil said the child abuse is a "buzzword"!! I was outraged at the thought of ANY Judge saying that. The paper said the mom didn't have an attorney either, right?
we need a Judge who makes the right decision on facts, compassion and recommendations given to him by other professionals such as Child Protection Services, a Maysville Detective, and Counselors, not on hope.
I AGREE 100%. If I remember correctly, the CPS, the girls couselor, and the detective all agreed that something happened to the little girl and didn't Walton award custody in the criminal proceedings? Why would a Judge go against another Judge?
What is the point of having these people appear in court and give their assesment, and then a Judge go against every one of their recommendations? I also have read about other cases brought before McNeil, that turned out similar. Fathers can be just as good at raising children as mothers.
Don't get me wrong, I am not saying anything about John McNeill as a person, only his qualifications as a Judge, based on FACT, not just opinion. And as a registered voter in Mason County, I feel that forums like this are great for gaining information on elected officials. By posting our opinions, we can then do our own research on candidates, and make an informed decisions.

Actually what he said was, "Child abuse is a buzz word parents use to manipulate the court in a child custody case". Despite proof given by Child services, Comprehend, the Detective, as well as Walton and the County Attorney in the criminal case prier, where I won temporary custody. You're right; the mother did not have an attorney, so in feeling sorry for her he allowed her to personally attack them on the witness stand despite my attorneys’ objections. He then told my attorney the mother could not be held to the standards of an attorney and allowed her to continue attacking the witnesses as well as giving her own personal testimony in response to their answers. This court case was simply described as being little more than a circus side show, in response to how McNeal kept order in his courtroom. Now for my questions, is this someone you want on the bench? What if it was your child?

I had a employee that got in a bad situation and had no money and had no defense in this situation and risk of losing everything he had, family, house propery and all ! The jury rec 5 years and Judge Mcneil seen a bad situation and the young man had never done anything wrong before.... Judge gave him probation and saved him & since has proven to be a good citizen for over a year now ! Every Judge has calls to make Good & Bad and has guidelines so every call will make some happy & some mad ! SORRY !
Judge Mcneil has my vote all the way !

Ok, just because he helped out one guy he’s to remain on the bench SORRY, I don’t think so! I have heard of at least 5 other child custody cases he has done the same as he did to tiger_n2_dragon. Unfit mother gets custody over a good dad just because McNeill thinks that children belong with the mother no matter what. These are people’s lives here; with serious consequences involving innocent children with their fate in one mans hands, not a child support case.
GO Attorney Stockton Wood, You've got my vote!!

I recommend that in order to be informed you should do your homework. Every person has different experiences with different people. As a voter it is your job to see that you vote for a person that sees things the same way you do. And most people have had both good and bad experiences with judges, lawyers, and even Sherriff’s, and Police. They are elected; therefore their actions should always be looked at by the community.
That is why I think that everyone should voice their side of a story. It is awful what happened to tiger_n2_dragon, and he is not alone. It has happened before in Mason and other counties. I am glad that your employee was shown leniency, but he is an adult, my concern is for the children that come before him. Do an archive search on him at the Ledger Independent’s we site and see what you find. And that is just PUBLISHED articles. There are good stories and negative ones. You should read them and see which ones he has more of. You could do that for any one running for any office. Do your research!! Make an informed decision, based on their past performance in that office, not just one or 2 cases.

Stockon Wood all the way.. Commonwealth's Attorney all those years gave him the experience he needs to make informed, compassionate decisions from the bench. Not based on... buzzwords and personal feelings, like the current sitting judge does.

Sounds like this Judge made a decision based on his feelings not the facts. Maysville AND surrounding counties need a compassionate judge, but also one that listens to the evidence presented before him or her.

I'm sure Judge McNeil has done a good job. The question today is: Who will do the best job? As a defender and a prosecutor, Stockton has been exemplary. He's successfully defended the innocent, and put the bad guys in jail. Now, he wants to be a judge. He will do his best everyday that he is in office. He knows a good one when he sees em, and he know a bad one as well. I say Yes! YES!! YES!!! Stockton, your time has come!!!!
