What changes would you like to see? Has our current local Government preformed well for you or is it time for a change.

As we get Candidates for the different City and County Offices we will start having a monthly election. This will help the candidates get a feel where they stand and what the voters would like to see from them.

If all goes well and we try to stay contractive, we might be heard.

Slamming, Flaming or any type of trashing posts will be deleted. Keep it informational and clean.

...................I would like to see a total change in leadership in our local gov't. Some individuals has been in office waaaay too long. I would like to see a full set of new faces & hopefully some new ideas would be put on the table.

One problem with the current gov't is.........lack of communication. The Ledger & the Beat needs to print more & better articles giving the total meeting highlights, similar to the Aberdeen council meetings. More details the better. Those boys across the river gets into "heated" discussions occasionally & the paper prints it--names included.

This can give the readers a better idea of how our officials deal with the tough issues.

Regarding the mayor's position.......to me, unless proven differently to me, it's just a P.R job. If you make Maysville look good for TV, radio & print interviews, you're doing the job. As long as the individual holding the job is in good standings with the public, they are OK by me. Cartmell is doing a good job there because I see him at virtually every organized event held in the city. ( That I've attended )

I've even spotted him at lessor known events such as:

1. The 4 Chaplain Service held at MCN in Feb 2005.
2. BSA Troop 207 Eagle Court of Honor ceremony held at the little park across from the Cotton Mill.

I've only mentioned these 2 to show that he does visit lessor known activities & not just the "big ones" such as Rosemary Clooney Fest, Christmas Parades, etc. time to quit rambling................see ya mark

I have said it before and I will say it again. I think it is good for everyone to have competition in an election year. Even if the incumbents win, it gives them something to think about and maybe to strive to do a better job the next term.
I hope we even see more new faces throwing their hats in the ring.

Contractive sequences are a special kind of cauchy sequence whose convergence is linearly bounded. Contractive sequences were once used to approximate roots; now they are more often used to prove convergence and other "nice" properties of differential equations, etc. They figure in the proof of the inverse function theorem.

WOW, More than I wanted with that word. Basically I was going for: "The root of positive information, from the outside looking in". That is what I was trying for. Will find a better word next time.

Now there is the problem right there....The Mayor, should be more then just the cities centerpiece...he should be one that can make a difference for the people of his city....

We need a new Judge! Walton has done great work for the children, in most cases that I have been witness to. It is that other Judge that needs replaced. He gave custody to a woman who plead guilty to abuse after Walton had previously given the father custody.

I like these kind of posts, as long as the people who are not voting understand that they don't have a leg to stand on in any complaint/debate about how the government is run. If you don't take a stand to at least try and get a person in office that you think will vote your way, then you can't gripe.

Actually, I like hearing for Local outside sources. Many of the choice that are made by our City Government has a direct impact on people that live outside the City limits. Out side of Mason County as well sometimes.

As long as the conversation stays nice and clean.

Maybe I should be a little clearer... I mean people who don't vote AT ALL, in any elections. I agree that outside info can be helpful.:)

You must have static in your connection. You are not clear. Also, I just can't let it go. lol

People who don't vote still have an opinion. I like to hear it.

Circuit Judge needs to go.. Shock probating Crack dealers after 2 months in jail, will not send a female to prison, lets rapists out after less than a 1/4 of their sentences served. Sounds like he needs to be in district courts where his over zealous compassion doesn't have dire consequences for the public. I mean really.. Who cares is someone gets out of a speeding ticket, or maybe a DUI. But the Circuit courts deal with felony offenses, where his decisions directly affect the publics well being. BTW.. Judge Walton does a fine job on the District Court Bench.

Maybe they should trade positions. Walton is a good judge, McNeal I'm not going to post what I think about him here.

Someone choose to login and out as a guest to pad the voting of this poll. So now only Registered members can vote in the poll.

Someone with the same IP add 12 voted over a 30 minutes span for the "Nothing, I like the current Elected Officials." vote option.

Not that I care or is is a big deal to me, but we should have a close to fair as possible poll.

Sorry to all but you now need to be a registered member to vote on the polls. Till I find a way to allow only 1 vote per IP.

so with so many votes to see a new mayor and city commisioners in the lead, it would be interesting to who Maysville citizens would like to see fill those offices and why.

I'm running for Commonwealth Attorney, the chief prosecutor for Bracken, Fleming and Mason Counties. I'd be happy to sit and chat with anyone about what you expect from your Commonwealth Attorney and my qualifications to do the job. Going "door-to-door" on-line is new to me, so please be patient.

We need to do this. Setup a time to open the live chat and have people meet the candidates. This would be a great idea.
