Brad McFarland of Barry’s Chevrolet-Buick, Inc. of West Union presents a check to Saundra Jackson, director of the Mason County, Ky. Chapter of the American Red Cross. Barry’s Chevrolet accumulated $7,400 for the victims of Hurricane Katrina by setting aside a percentage of each new car sold.
“A lot of people are still in shelters,” Jackson said. “Close to $50,000 has gone through the Mason County Chapter through donations from surrounding counties in Kentucky and Ohio.”
The American Red Cross helps with meals, clothing, mental health, rental properties and prescriptions, according to Jackson.
