I have four dogs. They have all come to live with us because they were homeless. They are great dogs. I usually take in the strays and try to find them homes, but sometimes they end up staying.Sure wish I could post some pictures, but I'm just not that savvy when it comes to computers.I also have two cats, my inside cat "Miss Kitty" will be 14 years old in April and a Tom cat we call Bubba just shows up to eat and chase birds! I really don't know where he came from. He's very sweet and loving(EXCEPT FOR THE BIRD CHASING!) I encourage everyone to be kind to all animals!!

That is a cute picture. I like dogs too. We have a little toy puddle. He is rotten and his name is Willy. He lives at my mom's house. Were we live the only pets we can have are fish and we have a 10 gallan tank.

We have a toy poodle also. She is now 17 years old and still adorable.
Ours is chocolate brown and her name is Sheena

I love both cats & dogs, equally. I can't decide between the two, so if I had a choice, give me both. Right now, the attached is the only girl in my life :)

Her name is 'Schyner' (pronounced Shiner)

Well I love both dogs and cats, and horses, and oh yes donkeys (Hello eeyore)rabbits, sheep, and cows!
But I am especially partial to my CATS. Right now I have just one cat and her name is Lucy, she is a gray long hair and sweet as can be but she tends to have her moments too. We have a couple of strays that come to the back door to eat, one has been on the block for three years, and he never ever came into my yard, but in the last few months he started to inch closer and closer until he reached close to the back porch. He is solid black with a tiny bit of white under his neck. He has fangs, a horrible runny nose, and had never been petted until he came to my back porch. When I finally did pet him he was so happy, now he comes by every morning to get scratched behind his ears and a back rub and a bite of dry food. (been checking them lables too)

Here are just a few of our "fur kids".

Currently we have 2 shih tzus, one sheltie, and 2 cats.

The picture with my husband and the rotties is one of my favorites. Unfortunately, we have lost both of them. For those that knew about my service dog, she is the one on the left, the smaller rott. The one on the right is her son Nitro. They are greatly missed.

Maggie, the dobie, was a foster. She has a great home!

I remember those dogs. They where chasing down racers of the Buffalo Trails Triathlon last year.

Didn't one of them actually catch a runner? I got pictures somewhere.

Well, I have to say I love all animals. But.... I do seem to prefer the cat critters. There are currently three gods of fur in the house right now. Miss Kitty is 14 years old and she has put up with me foreverk, so patient and tolerent. Tolerent evern when two other furrry critters entered her domain. Sage, the only male in this estrogen charged household, and of course the last on the scene, Blackberry, a totally black cat. They bring good luck, you know, black cats that is. Couldn't locate the disk with the "family" pictures, or I would have posted their pictures.

I'm fine with both, I just wish the good people of Maysville had the common decency to keep their pets in their own yards. I don't have a pet, and honestly am getting pretty fed up with cleaning up after my neighbors dogs. Fences make good pets and neighbors.

I agree Eddie. I have dogs, and I have a small yard, anytime I they go out and make a mess I go clean it up. It is not that hard, just really cold. I just walk 'em and put 'em back in the house, and go on a treasure hunt. I usually find more than just my dogs mess and I have to clean that up too.

** does anyone here know if someone is missing a golden chow mix, a beagle, and/or a large rat terrrier mix? they are running loose here and all have collars but they will not let you near them to read the tags.**

I think it's just respectful to your neighbors, The dogs don't know any better, but the owners should. There just seems to be a lack of common sense any more when it comes to people.

Last summer I attended a Search and Rescue Training. We spent the whole weekend performing mock searches , and got to see some actual search dogs work. I thought the German Sheperds were too cool! Here's a link to their site. They do some good work, and if you're a dog fan, you will find it interesting.

First welcome to Maysville BBS! Hope ya stick around!
Have you ever been to The Herb Farm @ Strodes Run? They have a website www.strodesrun.com. The owners are Rob and Sharon (I know 'em pretty well ;)) They have goats, chickens, mini donkeys, standard donkeys, and a highlander cow, as well as several horses. They also offer tours, and in the summer they have a great little cafe with the best homecooked food! The cafe is called the Sweet Annie Cafe. There is info about that too on the website.

Thank you! I am volunteer for Small Paws Rescue, so we sometimes have more fosters. As a matter of fact, my shih tzu Sasha was my first "Failing Fostering 101" dog. Meaning that she was supposed to be a foster and later find a fur-ever home, but we just fell in love with her and she stayed. The sheltie is a rescue from Sheltie Rescue of Kentucky.

I like all kinds of animals, but do not have any of my own. I just watch all my wild critters, (fox, squirrel, ground hog, deer, rabbit, raccoon, o'possum and anything else which wanders in from time to time) from my patio. LOL!

About three years ago, some real animal lover (NOT!!!!) dumped a female cat and her 3 kittens along my road. The kittens did not survive, but I seem to have inherited a food scrap disposal system. She had another litter in the little copse of woods out by my back fence. One of them survived and although it is not ours, my granddaughter and I named him Eleven O'clock. When my granddaughter was small, I got her a black cat, which she named Midnight. Eleven is also black, but just not quite Midnight.

This past fall, Momma Cat had another litter of four kittens, three of which survive. Two were almost twins, which we named T1 and T2. T1 did not make it, but the others did. I can't stand to see them hungry, so I toss out my table scraps over the fence for them.

I would have to agree with Mark and Pierced Bliss. I also like dogs but, they sometimes prove to be more of a nuisance then mans best friend. Cats use a litter box you have to keep clean; dogs go outside where you have to use a pooper scooper. Either way you have to clean up animal feces. I guess its personal preference whether you do this in the comfort of your home or, have to go outside in the weather. When you go on vacation, cats can take care of them selves with an automatic feeder, waterier, and litter maid. Dogs on the other hand, you have to either take them along or pay a kennel to watch them for you. This is just a couple things to consider when you’re picking out a new pet.

Got this today and I thought those in this thread might enjoy it!!

Dear Dogs and Cats,

The dishes with the paw print are yours and contain your food. The other dishes are mine and contain my food. Please note, placing a paw print in the middle of my plate and food does not stake a claim for it becoming your food and dish, nor do I find that aesthetically pleasing in the slightest.

The stairway was not designed by NASCAR and is not a racetrack. Beating me to the bottom is not the object. Tripping me doesn't help because I fall faster than you can run.

I cannot buy anything bigger than a king sized bed. I am very sorry about this. Do not think I will continue sleeping on the couch to ensure your comfort. Dogs and cats can actually curl up in a ball when they sleep. It is not necessary to sleep perpendicular to each other stretched out to the fullest extent possible. I also know that sticking tails straight out and
having tongues hanging out the other end to maximize space is nothing but sarcasm.

For the last time, there is not a secret exit from the bathroom. If by some miracle I beat you there and manage to get the door shut, it is not necessary to claw, whine, meow, try to turn the knob or get your paw under the edge and try to pull the door open. I must exit through the same door I entered. Also, I have been using the bathroom for years --canine or feline attendance is not mandatory.

The proper order is kiss me, then go smell the other dog or cat's butt. I cannot stress this enough!

To pacify you, my dear pets, I have posted the following message on our front door:

All Non-Pet Owners Who Visit & Like to Complain About Our Pets

1. They live here. You don't.
2. If you don't want their hair on your clothes, stay off the furniture.
(That's why they call it "fur"niture.)
3. I like my pets a lot better than I like most people.
4. To you, it's an animal. To me, he/she is an adopted son/daughter who is short, hairy, walks on all fours and doesn't speak clearly.

Remember: Dogs and cats are better than kids because they:

1. Eat less
2. Don't ask for money all the time
3. Are easier to train
4. Usually come when called
5. Never drive your car
6. Don't hang out with drug-using friends
7. Don't smoke or drink
8. Don't worry about having to buy the latest fashions
9. Don't wear your clothes
10. Don't need a gazillion dollars for college, and
11. If they get pregnant, you can sell their children
