MAY’S LICK Helen W. Gifford, 82 Former resident O f May’s Lick passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2006 at Meadowview Regional Hospital after an extended illness. She was a retired secretary with the Cabinet For Health & Family Services (Social Services) and the widow of Richard Gifford whose death occurred on April, 30, 2005.
Mrs. Gifford was born in Mason County on January 2, 1924 daughter of the late Everett & Lydia Frodge Watson. She was a member of the May’s Lick Christian Church and the May’s Lick Homemakers. She was commissioned a Kentucky Colonel by former Gov. Martha Lane Collins and a member of the Maysville Duplicate Bridge Club.
Survivors include one daughter Carolyn (Bob) McDonald of Richmond, VA and 2 grandchildren, Thomas V. (Jodi) McDonald of Cincinnati, OH and Elizabeth A. McDonald of Washington, D.C. 1 great grand child Anabelle McDonald. 1 sister Nina (Charley) Kirker of Naples, Florida and several nieces & nephews and her faithful caregiver Jean Florence of May’s Lick.
Services will be conducted at 1 P.M. Saturday at Palmer Funeral Home in May’s Lick with the Rev. Phillip Cook officiating. Interment will follow in the May’s Lick Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Johnny Gifford, Mike Gifford, David Gifford, Gerald Woods, Doug Carlisle and Randy Gaither. Honorary Pallbearers, Scotty Fulton, Charles E. Woods, Billy Ross, Davis Roberson, Emery Vice and Gerald Orme. Visitation 11 A.M. Saturday until time of the service. Memorials suggested to May’s Lick Christian Church bldg. Fund.
