Maysville Made the news in Lexington. The video on the home page of the BBS put together by The Ledger Independent and Maysville BBS was featured on the 11 o'clock news.

Whoohooo! Hopefully this'll be a blueprint for local BBSes :). This site has been tops in quality.

We survived over 20,000 hits today. Most where downloads of the video. I am just glad the server did not smoke or crash.

Congrats! Now we can say we've been slashdotted :)
You know, what's even more amazing? I got on my cousion's computer in Aberdeen today, and tested the speed of the new accerator I put on. It accually was faster, dispite being pounded like you said. This on 56k!

I cheated. I stayed up last night and set up mirrors for the video. I knew we couldn't handle the load so why not. The sever really never felt much of the traffic. Just handled the DNS.

[chuckles] Oh hooo...Normally, I would agree with cheated. But instead, I think that's a brillient move on your part :).

With the increased traffic to the BBS, there is no reason that local businesses should not consider advertising on the BBS a high priority advertising buy.
I would encourage all those of you that own businesses or have friends who own local businesses, to ask them to give the BBS a call and sign up.
This is truly a grass roots community supported project.
Chuck has worked hard over the last couple of years making this site, one of the go to web addresses for local information.
Now lets help him with your support......................
