You know this is an ad FOR the ACLU right? It's a demonstration of why they are trying to protect privacy rights. Just checking cause usually you're not much for them.

I think that Mark is showing what our "friends" at the ACLU are leading us toward. I've said it before: everyone affiliated with this bunch should be shipped somewhere out of this country. They do not represent what most of us feel.

I think this shows what the ACLU is trying to prevent or stop. This si not what they are for. The ACLU fight against this type of control daily. It is NOT their goal to achieve it.

After seeing the link I support the ACLU more. I want to make sure we don't end up with that.

I can see how that might be what is intended, with it being labeled as "ACLU", but if you watch the presentation completely and click the "TAKE ACTION" button after the "Want to Stop This From Happening?" announcement, it takes you to a page on the ACLU web site that explains what they are doing to try and protect privacy rights.

http://www.aclu.org/Privacy/Privacy.cfm?ID=16021&c=39

This has been my point all along. The ACLU takes hits from all kinds of misunderstandings. They aren't out to give your private information to Pizza makers, they are trying to prevent that. People automatically equate the ACLU with evil anti-American sentiments and then presentations like this get warped into people's mind as the evil ACLU is trying to give away your privacy, when it is actually what they are trying to prevent. Go figure.

LOL,,, Just kidding.

...........what's the difference in the ads?? I don't see it. If the ACLU would take on real concerns on the average person/family, they would get more support from me.

However, when they endorse allowing child porn, molesters getting free rides, stopping the Boy Scouts ( near & dear to my heart since I've been involved with them for 15 years ) destroying the family..( the heart of America ) & other anti- American values, they won't get support from me at all, period.............see ya mark

Here is something that I believe in... and couldn't agree more!!
So much truth in this...

Andy Rooney said on "60 Minutes" a few weeks back:

I don't think being a minority makes you a victim of anything except numbers. The only things I can think of that are truly discriminatory are things like the United Negro College Fund, Jet Magazine, Black Entertainment Television, and Miss Black America. Try to have things like the United Caucasian College Fund, Cloud Magazine, White Entertainment Television, or Miss White America; and see what happens...
Jesse Jackson will be knocking down your door.
Guns do not make you a killer. I think killing makes you a killer. You can kill someone with a baseball bat or a car, but no one is trying to ban you from driving to the ball game.

I believe they are called the Boy Scouts for a reason that is why there are no girls allowed. Girls belong in the Girl Scouts! ARE YOU LISTENING MARTHA BURKE?

I have the right "NOT" to be tolerant of others because they are different, weird, or tick me off.

When 70% of the people who get arrested are black, in cities where 70% of the population is black, that is not racial profiling; it is the Law of Probability.
I believe that if you are selling me a milkshake, a pack of cigarettes, a newspaper or a hotel room, you must do it in English! As a matter of fact, if you want to be an American citizen, you should have to speak English!

My father and grandfather didn't die in vain so you can leave the countries you were born in to come over and disrespect ours. I think the police should have every right to shoot your sorry *** if you threaten them after they tell you to stop. If you can't understand the word "freeze" or “stop" in English, see the above lines.

I don't think just because you were not born in this country, you are qualified for any special loan programs, government sponsored bank loans or tax breaks, etc., so you can open a hotel, coffee shop, trinket store, or any other business.

We did not go to the aid of certain foreign countries and risk our lives in wars to defend their freedoms, so that decades later they could come over here and tell us our constitution is a living document; and open to their interpretations.

I don't hate the rich. I don't pity the poor.
I know pro wrestling is fake, but so are movies and television. That doesn't stop you from watching them.

I think Bill Gates has every right to keep every penny he made and continue to make more. If it ticks you off, go and invent the next operating system that's better, and put your name on the building.

It doesn't take a whole village to raise a child right, but it does take a parent to stand up to the kid; and smack their little behinds when necessary, and say "NO!"

I think tattoos and piercing are fine if you want them, but please don’t pretend they are a political statement. And, please, stay home until that new lip ring heals. I don't want to look at your ugly infected mouth as you serve me French fries!

I am sick of "Political Correctness." I know a lot of black people, and not a single one of them was born in Africa; so how can they be "African-Americans"? Besides, Africa is a continent. I don't go around saying I am a European-American because my great, great, great, great, great, great grandfather was from Europe. I am proud to be from America and nowhere else.
And if you don't like my point of view, tough...
THEN DON’T PASS IT ON!!

Here ya go AC...
I don't believe in Santa Claus, but I'm not going to sue
somebody for singing a Ho-Ho-Ho song in December. I
don't agree with Darwin, but I didn't go out and hire a
lawyer when my high school teacher taught his theory
of evolution.

Life, liberty or your pursuit of happiness will not be
endangered because someone says a 30-second prayer
before a football game.

So what's the big deal? It's not like somebody is up there
reading the entire book of Acts. They're just talking to a
God they believe in and asking him to grant safety to the
players on the field and the fans going home from the game.

But it's a Christian prayer, some will argue.

Yes, and this is the United States of America, a country
founded on Christian principles. According to our very
own phone book, Christian churches outnumber all others
better than 200-to-1. So what would you expect-somebody
chanting Hare Krishna?

If I went to a football game in Jerusalem,
I would expect to hear a Jewish prayer.

If I went to a soccer game in Baghdad,
I would expect to hear a Muslim prayer.

If I went to a ping pong match in China,
I would expect to hear someone pray to Buddha.

And I wouldn't be offended.
It wouldn't bother me one bit.
When in Rome .

But what about the atheists? is another argument.

What about them?
Nobody is asking them to be baptized. We're not going to
pass the collection plate. Just humor us for 30 seconds. If
that's asking too much, bring a Walkman or a pair of ear
plugs. Go to the bathroom. Visit the concession stand.
Call your lawyer!

Unfortunately, one or two will make that call. One or
two will tell thousands what they can and cannot do.
I don't think a short prayer at a football game is
going to shake the world's foundations.

Christians are just sick and tired of turning the other
cheek while our courts strip us of all our rights. Our
parents and grandparents taught us to pray before
eating; to pray before we go to sleep.

Our Bible tells us to pray without ceasing. Now a
handful of people and their lawyers are telling us
to cease praying.

God, help us.
And if that last sentence offends you,
well ... just sue me.

The silent majority has been silent too long. It's time we
let that one or two who scream loud enough to be heard
that the vast majority don't care what they want. It
is time the majority rules! It's time we tell them, you don't
have to pray; you don't have to say the pledge of allegiance;
you don't have to believe in God or attend services that
honor Him. That is your right, and we will honor your
right. But by golly, you are no longer going to take our
rights away. We are fighting back ...
and we WILL WIN!

God bless us one and all ... especially those who denounce
Him. God bless America, despite all her faults. She is still
the greatest nation of all

God bless our service men who are fighting to protect
our right to pray and worship God.

May 2006 be the year the silent majority is heard
and we put God back as the foundation of our
families and institutions.

When you all reincarnate as penniless black atheists, I'm going to laaaauuugggh. :) Maybe then you'll get the idea that being in the 90% majority of race, religion, financial situation, and political muscle does not mean you are disenfranchised by the other 10%. I mean seriously. Is it really that hard being a white Christian in this United States? Next time you're sitting in church learning about humbleness and loving your neighbor, take a sec and wonder what the penniless black atheist has to go through on daily basis. Then, if you're still angry about your situation in life, feel free to email me.

So you're saying that all of the lawsuits and whining about Christmas, prayer, etc. is okay, and the rest of us should shutup? Or are you just keeping the pot stirred, trying to get another heated response from someone? Hopefully it's the latter.

I thought Jeremy's post was good by itself.

I did read anythin about Pray at Christmas or Shutup in there. Am I missing something?

Jeremy
January 10th, 2006, 08:31 AM
My point is simply that things like Christmas and prayers and everything that go along with it are not going anywhere soon. All the fear of such things is way over-hyped. On one hand you have everyone reporting that there are record numbers of Christians, and in the same breath reporting that Christianity is under attack. Really, isn't a little over-hyped considering the Senate, the House of Representatives, the Supreme Court, and the White House are all ran by the same people that are supposedly a dying breed? Can't we get rid of our fear of other cultures "taking over" when 90% of the country is of the same culture? Let's say they did gain a little ground. Is 80/20 so scary? Or even 70/30?

I don't want a heated discussion at all. In fact, I'd really like to see the opposite. I'm serious about imagining what it's like for the people that are in the 10% and just taking the anger down a notch. Most of the things the 90% are upset with are in reaction to something their group has done anyway. Even the whole Christmas thing. That blew up in the press when a lady asked Wal-Mart why they wanted to say Happy Holidays. It got thrown all over the news and people stood up to ask, "Why not call it Happy Holidays? What's the big deal?" There was no war on Christmas. Millions of people still celebrated in their own ways, believing whatever they wanted to believe.

I don't want anyone to shut up. I just think things should be put in perspective. Like I said, is it really so hard being white and Christian in this country? Is losing prayer sessions at the start of public meetings really on the same level as the Muslims who were praying outside a shopping mall a few months back and ended up arrested because someone thought they might be terrorists? Or does not saying "Under God" in public schools during the Pledge of Allegiance, is that on the same level as the two girls who were recently expelled from a school just because they were suspected of being lesbians? I'm not making these things up. For every case where a white Christian suffers from political correctness, there are literally dozens of cases of racial or religious discrimination, where the anty is upped to include deprivation of basic human rights. This isn't a perfect world and atrocities still go on all the time. So what if you can't pray in school? You can still pray at home or in your church or even in school if you keep it to yourself. You've lost nothing but convenience. The poor Muslims lost their freedom and the poor girls lost their education.

That's all I'm saying. It's just a matter of perspective. It doesn't require a heated response at all. If you read my post carefully, the only thing I am saying is that what is lost through political correctness is far less than what is gained through it. After all, political correctness, which has gained such nasty connotations, is simply respect when you peel away all the layers. I don't want the pot stirred... I want it to simmer.

Foxy

I think that you can put any religious beleif in that statement I made earlier. I think it is silly that any government entity can ban prayer of any belief at any public event.
It could be Hanukkah or Kwanza, or the Winter Solstice (sp?) instead of Christmas. The point is that I have said it before and I will say it again, we need tolerance not understanding. I don't understand Wiccan, Jewish, Islamic, and many other beliefs, but I tolerate them. By that I do not mean that it is anoying or anything like that, by tolerate, I mean I do not complain when an Islamic person is bowing in prayer, or at a restaraunt a Jewish person os making sure that a meal has no pork, etc.
I assure that as much as my opinion differs from others here, I enjoy looking at the "other side of the coin". I was not trying to push my beliefs on any one, only stating that I, as a beliver in Christ, will like other believers in their faith will stand for what I beleive is an infringment on my right.
If an athiest has the right not to pray, where is my right TO pray?
And I do not recall making any statement of Race any where. Any or no religous beliefs are based on race, are they? I may be missing something, but I know that I have seen black jews and islams, and white people that celebrate Kwanza.
I think that the ACLU is trying to take any who doesn't see their point of views rights away.

When are you running for President? You've got my vote.
I believe it is time for people who are NOT one sided and who can see the big picture to stand up and be heard. After all, that is what this country is supposed to be about, the majority rules. However, it seems people who believe in God, Truth, and the American way, are becoming the minority each and every day. God please continue to bless the USA, despite people who take everything offered and give nothing back.

I dont mind if other religions say their kind of prayer,or worship in their own way, I just dont want to be told i am being politicaly incorrect when i exercise my right to my own faith and beliefs. it is like this, all of us have ancestors who come from Ireland, Germany, Holland and a host of other countries but do you see us making sure we are called IRish American, German American or Dutch American, on things such as job applications...............

I am poor and it has nothing to do with my race, the minorities of the past are no linger a minority now(to some extent), and I think my last post expressed RELIGIOUS TOLERANCE, the right for Muslims to pray many times during the day, for Christians to pray many times during the day and th Jews, whomever, for what ever reason.

The ACLU or American Communist Lovers Union, or Anti-Christian Liberty Union, or whatever we call that abomination, knows full well that they are wrong. They do not care about civil liberties. If they did, they would not stomp on the civil liberties of Christians every day. Their mission is to destroy Christianity in America. It really is that simple.

Civil liberties are granted by the "civil"authority, or the government. This is the problem you see, because we get our rights and liberties from God, not the government. That is the truth that the ACLU wants to deny because they are part of a very integrated effort to make government our God. Our Declaration of Independence "hold(s) these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed BY THEIR CREATOR with certain unalienable Rights, that amont these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness."

The ACLU denies the existence of the Creator and wants nothing to do with the Declaration of Independence calling it an irrelevant document. They are wrong and they know it, but they are getting away with it, FOR NOW.
