Dennis Redmond holds the record as the "longest tenured" city
manager in Kentucky, but his second job didn't last as long.

Dennis Redmond was on board as Village Manager as of Nov. 15, 2003 and resigned on Monday, July 19, 2004, a mere 8 months later.

Manny Grinn suggested perhaps Mr. Redmond would not have resigned so abruptly, if council would have kept him apprised of their satisfaction level with his performance on the job every couple weeks, on a personal basis, rather than waiting eight months to inform him he was “adequate.”

But all is well that ends well. He is back to try again. In Dayton, Ky (http://www.daytonky.com/).

Good luck...................

I've know Dennis for more years than I care to admit. When he first got the Maysville job many thought it was through politics because his father worked for Jim Finch. As it was always said,
WFTM stands for "Watch Finch Take Maysville"
Dennis served as city manager for 31 years and did truly an OUTSTANDING job. The City of Dayton is getting a good man.

I echo those sentiments. I interned for Dennis when I was finishing my degree in 1982 & 1983. He taught me alot about management and more importantly the nuances of working with and for the public. Most people will never know what a truly extraordinary job he did for the citizens of Maysville.
