A tractor-trailer load of gas now is 20 thousand dollars to a retailer.

You know how much it cost to fill up your car, now you know how much it cost to fill up a gas station.

On a side note, some gas pumps don't register over $2.99 per gallon price, so the pumps will have to be replaced.

This is a problem for small, older stations, usually mom and pops, so it is another small victory for big business. The small stations will not be able to afford the expensive new pumps.

Once they drive them out of business, the price mayl come back down below $2.99.

Maybe that is the corporations motivation to get prices above $2.99.

How many stations do we have in the Maysville area that will have to get new pumps or go out of business.

........................you are right, only the " big boys " will replace their pumps, spread the cost to us & the rest will suffer severely.

It's sad but true................see ya mark

Why would the pumps not register over $2.99? The pricing per gallon is done by the console and not on the actual pump.

here is one of those old fashioned (no console) pumps.

The fear of closing up shop is much higher for stations with old model pumps.

"We'll have to turn the pumps completely off because they will not go over 2.99 a gallon and when that happens then I have to shut them completely down because they can't be repaired because they're so old," Hensley said.

""It's going to come right down to where I have to lay people off at my store it's really going to hurt," Sonja Zimmerman said.

Only newer pumps have computer consoles. The old pumps
are stand alone and may not have numbers to reach 3.00

Sounds like a y2.99k issue.

How bout this. Instead of closing shop or buying new pumps you buy a calculator at the dollar store and multiple the gallons.

Like what the did when gas went over a dollar and pumps only register to .99.
