"We have finally identified them as termites," said Bracken School Superintendent Tony Johnson at the regular meeting of the Bracken County School Board, Monday.

"We are going to have it taken care of as soon as the students are out of the school for the summer," said Johnson.

Board members agreed to accept a bid from T&M Pest Control to tackle the problem as a spot treatment project.

Is this money being spent proerly?

Maybe they should read up on the critters first........

1-Termites swarming indoors will attempt to get outside by flying toward light around windows and doors or even toward lights that are on in the room. -Maybe they should just open the window......

2-Interior swarms of subterranean termites will not reinfest the structure or its contents.............. I think they might be gone by the time school is out.

3-Swarmers shed their wings after flight, as they will never fly again.

4-After shedding their wings, the termites mate, then seek out sites to begin new colonies. Let's hope they practice safe ................................

5-Wood in contact with moist soil is a suitable colony site for termites.

We had a company give us an estimate for a home 270' outside dimensions. The cost quoted was $1343.00. Does this seem to be a reasonable quote for a home this size? approx 3000 sq ft including the garage... We do have a small infestation and they state the whole home must be treated... is this standard practice?

ANSWER:
That is an average price...not too high, not too low. Very few companies will do spot treatments. You can't blame them however,

it's hard to warranty spot treatments.
