A friend of mine sent this to me and I thought it would make good...food for thought....
Gun control
There have been an average of 160,000 troops stationed in Iraq during the last 22 months. During this time the firearm death total was 2,112 for a firearm death rate of 60 per 100,000.
The rate in Washington DC is 80.6 per 100,000. That means that you are more likely to be shot and killed in our Nation's Capitol, which has some of the strictest gun control laws in the nation, than you are in Iraq.
My thought for sure...
We should immediately pull out of Washington, D.C.

guns are good we need guns and lots of them and no controls at all . terrorists can buy guns here in america and the n.r.a. supports their right to buy and own guns and i support the n.r.a. does that mean i support terrorism >???????

...............I posted about this subject just before the national election. At that time, there were approx. 500 gunshot fatals in L.A. & another 500 in NY. per year. When posted, there were approx. 700-750 U.S. soldiers that died in Iraq.
It was safer for the soldier or average American to walk the streets of Iraq than in NY or LA...........and they are carrying guns out in the open in Iraq!!
Yet one hears very little about the people shot by punks & thugs in the U.S. cities. Hmmm, let a soldier die in Iraq, & the TV press can't wait to tell you at 6:30pm.
Go figure that one..................see ya mark

Ok...Let me clarify…
I am an avid gun owner and my hubby and son are members
of the NRA.... And I would so NOT give up all of my guns…
(my nickname at the gun range is…”little Annie Oakley”)…
It was just an statistic fact that I thought was really interesting.
If the government came and took our guns, the black market
would make a fortune.
I think that any gun owner needs to be responsible for/with
his/her action. I also think if you are going to own a gun or
any other type of defense weapon, that if you have children….
you need to teach them to be responsible also. Both my kids
learned gun (weapon) safety by the age of 7 years old…
and until that age they didn’t even know we owned any
type of weapons. And I will tell you, I would not even
hesitate to shoot an intruder dead on if they came in my house
or was a threat to my kids, I do have a gun license and I do
carry my gun when I feel it necessary. I know a lot of people
don’t and will not agree with me on this and that is there right….
I for one will never budge on this issue…I have seen and been
through to much….I will protect myself/family at any cost that I see fit…

I as well have a license to carry a gun, as does my husband, my father-in-law, and my dad. I think it was the best money we ever spent, being able to protect ourselves. The only thing is the government can't take away our guns unless they do away with the second admendment of the Constitution. Which is one thing I live by. I hunted whitetail deer when I was younger and lived on a farm, but the only way I was allowed to hunt was if I took a hunter's education course (and got a "course" from my parents). The hunter's education course was more than just about hunting it teaches hunters safety and gun safety. When I took the CCDW (concealed carry) class I learned a lot, everything from safety to laws on where I can carry and where I cannot. It isn't the guns fault that people are dying from them it is the people who are carrying them's fault. Here is some food for thought, "I'm not afraid of people who are allowed to carry a gun, but its the people that aren't allowed to have them that scares me." (Author unknown)

The patriot act should never have been allowed to see the light of day! Just reading some of the rights it gives the FBI and other government agencies to invade our homes is enough to give one nightmares. It reads like "the thought police on steroids!!!"

If I was ever on a jury, where someone shot an intruder to protect their family, I would NEVER find them guilty. Every American has a right to protect their Family, and If more of the bad guys thought there was a gun waiting on the other side of the door, they would be a lot less likely to walk through!
