Approximately 40 U.S. Navy recruiters attended a training session held at the VFW Post 2734 Maysville on Jan. 14. The training session was hosted by retired Master Chief Harry Lawwill, post quartermaster. Recruiters from West Virginia, Kentucky, Ohio and Indiana attended the meeting conducted by Navy Counselor Chief Norman Boley. Subjects covered included information on recruiting changes, role-playing, leadership, and general changes in the U.S. Navy. Also attending was Lt. Claude McRoberts, enlisted programs officer for Navy Recruiting District Indianapolis. Maysville residents attending were ABH2 Zachary Browers and MM1 Jonathan McCord, who are responsible for recruiting in Mason, Lewis, Bracken, and part of Robertson counties in Kentucky and Brown, Adams and part of Pike counties in Ohio. After the meeting, recruiters met at Ponderosa Restaurant for lunch before returning to their duty stations.

My name is Lisa Browers and I am very upset with the information that is inaccurate in this article...There are names wrong and also information wrong...This is poor reporting. Please correct these problems ---To accurately show the apppropriate respect that is due to these men and women who dedicate thier lives to make sure that young men and women have a true future.
The following things were incorrect in this article:

"Chief Norman Boley" his actual name is Chief Warren Boley
"Recruiters from West Virginia" there are no recruiters in our district that are from West Virginia only Kentucky, Ohio, and Indianna
" MM1 Jonathan McCord" MM1 Jonathan Cord is the correct name.
"and part of Pike counties in " Pike County is in another stations area not Maysville's

I feel this was disrespectful of your reporter to not listen and report what was accurate. I am sure that you will correct these problems due to the nature of the jobs that these proud men and women do for your community.

Thank you
Lisa Browers
wife of ABH2 Browers, RINC NRD Maysville, USN

I'm not sure what the above comment means, however the size of the town has nothing to do with writing or reporting accurate information. The reporter should have verified names, places and facts before submitting the article.

Lisa:

I don't think you over-reacted. I've found that a lot of papers, and even people know little about grammer, and are too lazy to use spell checkers, IF available. (I know I'm not the world's best on spelling and I don't have a spell checker on the browser.)

I'm wondering anymore what the job of an editor is? I constently see grammitic mistakes in the Ledger. Ones that just pop out, and grab you by the throat.

Just yesterday, in an appraisal order I got, one line gave me, and my super plenty of laughs.

"Take one picture of the Kitchen, one of the bath, and one picture of your choose"

Oookkk...what is a picture of your choose? :)

If they report the news, they should do at least basic conformation of the sources, use a spell checker, and looks at their stories for grammer checking.

Annie I did not try to offend anyone with the comment I was just meaning that this is not a BIG city paper like Lexington or Cincinnati. I was not down-grading anyone or anything by all means in this town. I am sorry if you took it that way.

Navywife, I am ok, no offense taken.

You know, grammatical mistakes, misuse of puncuation, etc. is one thing, but getting those names wrong is another. That is not a typo, that is carelessness. I hope they will run the article again with the correct names and places.

Go get them Navywife...they need it. The only reason they don't take time to care..is they have no competition.
