He's a "Liberal Spender" hahaha,,, Not even close. He only spends money on projects that his friends and family profit from. A liberal spender would spend more money at home on projects that help Americans.

G.W. is an "over spender". He's cut and almost killed every American Project he started. He has the highest budget is history yet no one really knows where all the money is going.

His funding comes from the SS system so do you really think he will revamp it? If they cut SS they will have to raise taxes to make up for the loss in cash flow. Or rely on they banks to fund the US.

Is anyone really surpised? It was suggested before the election that whomever gets the job, will be one of the most hated presidents in the U.S. History because #1 they WILL have to raise taxes. We've got a record deficit, and no matter what GW promises, we cannot keep spending and make the tax cuts he gave to the big business stick. If he does indeed want to cut the deficit, then he'll have to raise taxes. Most probably on the middle class, and poor. IE: us.

I would bet real money this will happen.

I haven’t heard about raising taxes yet. Maybe Bush could call it a “Support our troops” tax. That way, half the country would be behind it. Wait, how about a “Moral values added tax?” Or a “Stop the gays tax.” I can’t wait to see the spin on this one.

Isn't it time to move on from this discussion? This is a great website, but if I want to watch "Crossfire" or "Hannity & Colmes", I have television! The Dems will never agree with the Republicans, or vice versa. If being a politician meant that you had to be honest, D.C. and every state capital in the country would be ghosttowns. Having said that, beating up on the other side, or an individual is pointless. Agree with the current administration or not, they are in office. Perhaps in the next election BOTH PARTIES will have better candidates. Bottom line: This discussion was good for a while, but it's lived much longer than it ever should have.

.................I have to somewhat agree with dpolley to a point, however, there is an answer that NO politician is talking about. The answer is..........how about actually cutting gov't spending??

If anyone on this forum goes out & spends more than is listed in their checkbook, they must cut back because we all know we cannot go to our employer & ask for more money to pay for our "expenditures". Nada, won't happen.

Same should work for our gov't. NO politician will talk about cuts, for fear of loosing their power. Yet we all know ( dems & republicans ) that actual cuts are needed, not just cuts in the rate of growth. I can see it now, before any of you slam me with "where are you going to cut the budget" stuff, I'm here to say that EVERYWHERE gov't spending is involved with, should be cut by a minimum of 10% immediately.................yes, immediately!

There will be a lot of crying & whining from everyone in this great country, however, we will all be in the same boat & should accept the fact that at least someone in gov't really cares about America's deficit instead of their own pockets.

Probably never happen, but it was a good thought anyway..........see ya Mark

I agree on the cutting spending, but when the military is consuming almost 20% of the budget, what can we cut that will put us back in the black? The majority of the people are voting this path we are going down. 10% cuts in everything won’t put us in the black. Congress needs to bring all troops home and cut the military budget in half. Then they need to stop trading with enemies of the U.S. and bring the jobs back home. This would erase the deficit and more people would be paying taxes to fill government coffers. But too many people voted for security and moral values. Not realizing they were getting neither.

I agree with tk's last post, but this is not a problem brought on solely by this president. This has gone on for years, continued by both parties, and unfortunately I don't see anyone being elected with the guts (and Congressional backing) to finally stand up to the rest of the world and implement anything close to what TK suggests. Everyone complains about giving jobs and billions of dollars to every other country in the world, but until our government changes their way of thinking, nothing will change in this country, no matter who is in the White House.

Why don't they just layoff half the White House staff to save money. Most Americans including myself have no clue what they do anyway. Look at Dick Chaney, all I ever see him do is nod off when Little George is giving a speach.....but come to think of that's all most people do when he gives a speach. hahaha!
