MAYSVILLE -- Mrs. Willena Toncray Kinsler Boggs, 92, a retired school teacher, died at 8:40 a.m. Monday at her residence on East Second Street. She was a native of Lewis County and the daughter of the late John D. and Bessie Toncray. She was a member of St. Patrick Church.Mrs. Boggs, who attended Transylvania, University of Kentucky and Morehead State University, taught at the Cottageville School (Cabin Creek), Mason County schools, and for 17 years at St. Patrick's School. As a teacher she had a philosophy that students should be taught character. Mrs. Boggs believed it was important to make students understand truth, honesty and fairness.She was a member of the Mason County Homemakers, the Maysville Garden Club and the Mason County Senior Citizens. Mrs. Boggs enjoyed refinishing furniture, caning chairs, quilting, card playing and traveling. She had visited all 50 states of the U.S.A. Mrs. Boggs is survived by three sons, Jim Kinsler (Terri) of Findlay, Ohio, John Boggs and Bill Boggs (Charlene) of Maysville. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Jim Kinsler of Orlando, Fla., Chris Kinsler (Nicole Smith) of Springfield, Ohio, Michael Boggs, Patrick Boggs (Kristy) of Maysville, Michele Boggs of Indianapolis, Ind.; and two great-grandchildren, John and Sophia Kinsler of Sprinfield. She also leaves three sisters, Mrs. Nell Wilson, Mrs. Marge Burke of Maysville, and Mrs. Mary Elliott of Fredricksburg, Ind. and three devoted caregivers, Ruby Sexson, Marcella Poe and Dorothy Chandler.
Mrs. Boggs was preceded in death by her first husband, John James Kinsler and her second husband, Maurice Boggs; a brother, Andrew Toncray; and a sister, Lula Mae Toncray.Mass of Christian burial will be on Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick Church with the Rev. William Hinds officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery.Pallbearers are Jim and Chris Kinsler, Michael and Patrick Boggs, Don Wilson, John Toncray, Paul Elliott and Doug Ginter. Honorary pallbearers are Randy Denton, Bob Pollitt and Phil Day.Visitation will be at Brell and Son Funeral Home 5-8 p.m. today. Prayers will be said at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Patrick's School, Mason County Senior Citizens Center, Mason County Ovarian Cancer Fund or Hospice of Hope.Condolences at www.brellandson.com
