.........yes, we have a boatload of restaurants around here. So, staying within 40 miles, what is your favorite restaurant & why??
I'll start.
One of mine is Laredo's. Why, you may ask??
1. You can eat all the peanuts you want.
2. My wife ( Mrs. yardhunter ) the kids & I rarely have to wait.
3. The service is pretty good.
4. Oh yes, the price is really reasonable for what you get.
I don't drink adult beverages so I can't offer an evaluation about that.
Laredo's is one of my favorites.
So, how about you?? .................see ya Mark

I really enjoy Laredos, Mi Camino Real and Pasquales for food selection and pricing, however, my ultimate favorite restaurant in Maysville is Tumbleweed. The ribs, the petite sirloin, the twice baked potato...and OH MY!...the pulled pork sandwich...mmmmm!
The one drawback is cost so I dont get to indulge often. My family of four can eat at deSha's for half the cost of Tumbleweed...but it's the ribs that make my mouth water and get the deciding vote!

Brown's....great breakfast
Caproni's...roast beef sandwich
China Garden...crab legs
deSha's....french onion soup
Frisch's....coffee & pie
Golden Dragon....crab legs
Laredo's....ribs
Tippedore's...garlic shrimp
My house...my hubby is German and Hungarian..he can make a great meal out of anything...always wondered why he never became a chef
I would have to say the fava one is....Red Lobster...I am a shrimp, lobster and crab person (no regular fish...ewwwww). I do like shark and gator and squid.

Hmm, within 40 miles? That helps a lot.
Well lets see:
The dinner bell in Mayslick. - pretty good home cooking. The only con, is the enviromental controls need work. Too hot in the summer, too cold in the winter.
Browns - Reminds me of the old Frishes (sp?)
DeLights - nothing like greek food. Especially the lady's baklava. Oh that brings back good memories! :) That's where I take friends too, when they come by to eat.
Eats - They're country ham is very good, and the owner understands and treats diabetics right. Last time I was there, telling her that because i'm a diabetic, I can't eat the country fries, she gave me a doggy bag, green beans, AND brought out some jelly that's low carb. Specifically saying on the package "Good for diabetics" Service, man. I tell you, service :).
Dairy YumYum in Ripley - what can I say, but just good food?
Dairy Queen in Flemingsburg. - A national chain, with local food. I've always thought this was the right way to do a fast food resturant. Let them bring in their local favorates as well as the national ones. Mother likes that rye bun burger with swiss cheese, I like their potato wedges, and of course their [lipsmack] Peanut buster parfai.
Pondersa is pretty good too. At times the food starts to taste the same, but it's acceptable.
Don's Pizza - Got it ONE time, and loved it.
Pasqualies (sp?) - I sooooo love italian food!
---
Going to try:
Mamma's Kitchen in Flemingsburg
The 2 asian resturants in town
The mexican resturants
Going to miss:
Pasquies
Pizza joints, especially Don's
Krispy Kreme

Asian - Golden Dragon hands down. Been going there since its beginning.
Delite's - within walking distance, and John and Erato are friends.
Steak - Tumbleweed is best, but pricey.
IMHO, this place lacks a good Mexican place.
Pizza - Mama Joe's, now under new ownership but the deep dish style stuck around.
Brown's reminds Kredden of Big Boy because it was Big Boy as late as the 70's...and Big Boy is where I've probably eaten the majority of meals out.
There was a time when if the cook saw me coming in my cheeseburgers would
come to my table without ordering. ;)

[chuckles] DL, I saw that ;)
Your right. I use to eat at Big Boy a lot when I was a child. After it became Browns, things changed in the family and we didn't go back for a very long time. But boy the memories it brought back.
Our first night there, we met one of mother's very old friends, and spend nearly two hours there, talking, eating, and holding up folks wanting to go home :)

For me it's Tumbleweed, I really like the environment. I guess I'm a cowboy at heart. I also like Pasquales, except the smoke in there is always very bad. If I eat from there I usually get it to go.

For me, Laredos is tops.
For Chinese, it's gotta be the Golden Dragon. Like DL, have been going there since it opened. Took one side trip to China Garden, but to me, it did not compare to the Dragon!

Hmm, well I have worked at deSha's for 6 years, and how you can feed a family of 4 cheaper there, I will never know. My favorite of all time is Pasquales, I could eat there 5 days a week, they have the best cole slaw in town. I do have 2 restaurants that I will miss the most, The Little Chef, and White Light

I miss the White Light and the Tavern on Market Street, Great Gyros!!!
I like Laredos, love Pasquales and Mi Camino.
If you are looking for carry out, you have to try Hutchison's grocery. The cheeseburgers are the best in town, hands down! 564-3797
My kids love Ponderosa (ice cream bar).
Tumbleweed is good, but every time we go there we always seem to get bad service, either the server is slow or the kitchen is.

Had to jump in here. No doubt about it....First Friday of the month at Blue Licks State Park. Seafood Buffett, man that is so good. Any other Friday is almost as good. I do like some places around town too. The Golden Dragon is always good, well run, and good people. Tumbleweed has some of the best food, but the service is usually absolutely terrible and the servers may not be the problem. They really need to fix whatever the problem is. Mi Camino Real is always good, excellent service, plenty to drink. Have to mention Gold Star, at times their food really hits the spot.
