Well I never get exactly what I want every year (Where's my pony, mommy? hehe) But I'm happy with the loot. We had relatives over which was nice, they let me sleep in till 12, (especially since I was fussing with one package till 2 am. Cheap o paper!) But what did I get?
Lets see:
One young cusion got me a cast-iron horse statuette, his twin got me a lead crystal horse bust from Traxler. Grandma (father's side) got me a set of 10 $.99 used classical CDs and a horse calender. The folks got me a DVD of the Jack Benny show, BeeGees Number Ones and Dino: The essential Dean Martin CDs. Tetris Elements computer game. (Ohh jezz...now I'll be up all night playing that [hehe])
A new pair of pants (after loosing 75 lbs, I need it!) one cousion got me a web cam (smile!) A 'horses and art' magazine, and one thing that surpised me greatly. Mom and Dad found "Anatomy of the Horse" by George Stubbs. Only the book that my favorate 17th century equine artist wrote and drew. I'm surpised it was still in print, but amazing what you can find on the internet.
Yeah, it was a real horsey christmas this year. I was surpised everyone remembered (hehe)
Not to be selfish, but my little sister got a haul too. Not only her christmas dinner, but 2 denti bones, a big 'carrot' bone, two beef/pork rawhide bones, a new ball, all the family taking turns playing, and patting, and generally making fools of themselves over her. (Reminds me of the Dino song; "Shady lady of Shady lane'" hehe)
So it was fun, pleasent, quiet (which is what I wanted most of all,) and best of all I didn't have to fight my blood glucose today. It stayed in the mid 100s all day, and so I could have a nice dinner. (Aside from nearly scaring my grandmother to death, when I tried a tablespoon of the cheesecake :) She's one that thinks diabeties is a death sentence unless your on a tanker full of insulin and can't even look at anything sweet. (Uh..Grandma, I'm not on insulin, and my BGs are nearly normal. Well how can that be? You need insulin to live, and blab, blab, blab, doctor doesn't know squat...)
Merry Christmas all!

After a few tears on Christmas morning, remembering Christmas's spent with my sister, Linda, whom we lost, after a long battle with cancer, early in December, the day brightened up as we went to my son's for Christmas dinner and presents.
My daughter-in-law, Susie, serves the best dinners!! She makes at least one of everyones favorite dishes. After my grandaughter gave a very nice blessing, I pigged out on the broccoli casserole and the sugar- cured ham while others did the same on their own favorites. It may not be what everyone considers a traditional Christmas dinner, but it was great! So, we start our own traditions! (LOL)
Then it was on to the good stuff. PRESENTS!! Although watching the kids open their many presents was the best part, I did make out like a bandit with mine!! :D
Being the hillbilly I am, I love running around the house barefooted, which gets a little chilly in the winter. Never fear, slipper socks from my grandchildren!!!! I love 'em! Knowing that I am the world's second oldest living teenager, after Dick Clark ;) , my son added to my collection of WEBN sweatshirts!! This year, it was a "hoodie". Also among my gifts was a really pretty "Grandma's Angels" shirt with each of the children's names on one of the many angels. Very nice! Waiting for me too, was a beautiful gold necklace with the grandchildrens birthstones. From my hubby, I got a bottle of "Opium" perfume, my favorite! Also a gold bracelet, now that was a big surprise!!
I feel truly blessed, not for the presents, but for the family I have to share all the love. May God bless all of you as he has me.

...........vjr, that's my feet to the extreme left. Actually those cats are Missy's pets. I stole them Christmas Day for this pic! Randy ( as you may have guessed ) has those bearclaws on & Sandy to the right has those "innocent" looking kittens on. I didn't show our faces to "protect" the innocent! Hee, hee.
Sounds like you had a Great Christmas too with family. I bet your mom was " tickled " getting a rare chance to have dinner with you guys.
I too thank God,family, friends, & health that sometimes we take for granted.
May God Bless everyone here & the U.S.A. this Christmas ( We ARE allowed to say Christmas, right? ) season. We have been a blessed nation for 225+ years & I want it to stay that way!

8 Christmas ago brought me my Beautiful Bride that I have today. Since then I have been blessed with 2 wonderful children that I get to share Christmas with. I find enjoyment in taking photos on Christmas as being my present.
I got other presents that were really cool but they slip my mind. I sit here looking at a photo on my desktop of the kids decorating the tree before Christmas. Everytime I see this post, the 'family' is the only thing that comes to mind.
VJW, jump in anywhere you like. Your post and opinions help make this a great site. It is the one place that everyone is needed and welcome to come play.
Have a happy and safe new year...

.......I totally agree with you Chuck. Those kids are a gift that I cherish too.
You mention the tree decorating. Here's one final time I'll post this.
It was a lot of fun that I hope my kids will always remember:
