Since the weather today feels just like Christmas (NOT!) was just curious what family traditions or things people do for the holidays. I need to get in the Christmas spirit. Personally I feel Christmas is more of a chore anymore than it used to be. what are your thoughts?
I usually make Christmas candy for family and friends. Of course I have to make Thanksgiving and Christmas Dinner since I have more mouths to feed a few more wouldn't hurt. LOL

WOW, that was a lot of fun & the kids really enjoyed it.
We also take the kids to the CG&E train display & other fun stuff in Cincinnati. We'll do that when the kids gets out of school soon..............see ya Mark

When we moved up here 10 years ago…it was my hubby, son and I, all of our other family was in Florida. I wanted to start something different for “our family tradition” soooo …being, we love the holiday season, and thinking it was over to quickly…I started our 24 days before Christmas.
I bought 23 small gifts for my son…starting on Dec.1th he got to open 1 per day (at breakfast) and that took him to Christmas Eve morning…
he then knew after Christmas dinner that night (having our Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve..let us have all day Christmas to play) we would be opening our stocking stuffers and any gifts from other family members and friends.
Then there would be Christmas morning….we then took turns opening our gifts…(starting with the ones from Santa) we would stop ½ way through and eat Christmas breakfast….afterwards going back to finish up the rest…..I found that this would last from maybe 5:30 am to almost around mid noon…
After the birth of my daughter we still carry this tradition…
My son got engaged at Thanksgiving Dinner (that was special), and knowing this will be his last month long Christmas with us…he has told me that, the tradition will carry on with his new wife and him and then after they have kids they will start it with them.
As far as having out Christmas Dinner on Christmas Eve, that will allow us to have the company of my son and has family and then her family will have them on Christmas Day…something tells me this was, is and will be one of my best ideas yet…lol
Wishing you and all your loved ones… a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Well I have one Christmas tradition - accually 2 but they're about the same. Every year, at Christmas eve, I re-read "A Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens. It's always a good reminder of things that we tend to take for granted. If we allow bitterness, pain and suffering to rule our lives, and not allow a release then we too forge a chain, link by link, yard by yard, that drags us down.
Christmas does have a magicial effect on people. After all the stuff I went though this year, I'm much lighter this month than I have been all during the year. I'm honestly surpised.
The 2nd tradition, is watching one of the Christmas Carol adaptions. This year it was the Patrick Steward version (1999) but I must admit, that one, the George C. Scott, and "Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol" has always been my 3 favorate versions :). I have to get Mr. Magoo on DVD, I haven't seen it in years.

...............you're right. AS far as I'm concerned, I'm saying the words "Merry Christmas " to anyone willing to listen.
I don't care if they are offended or not.
I still mean it..........so..........
Merry Christmas..............see ya Mark
