I exchanged on November 2nd.
First, it's smaller and lighter than the old, with five lights. "Power", "Cable" "PC", "Data" and "Text"
It seems to work much better with the hibernation, and reconnecting problems we experienced awile back. I've yet to have that problem pop up yet, but then it was sporatic at best before.
If there is a weak signal, sometimes the 'cable' light kicks off. But usually not. You'll notice that when your browser can't find web sites for example. But if you pull the power plug, and wait 10 seconds, it'll clear it usually.
Only one problem I had, I had a weak signal all *night* one night. I couldn't connect at all, till morning. But again, no light off.
I unplug the modem on weekends, when I clean out my system to protect it from incoming attacks, and it has no problems at all restarting within 30 seconds.
So far, it's worth getting under the table and pulling wires.
Oh!! BTW I am also on tier one pricing now. Oooch, that *HURTS* in speed. I'm only getting about 30 kbps downloads maximum, which downloading big files, is a major speed kick. For ones in the know, that speed is with Getright which maxes out your downloading. I use to get about 60 kbps.
Maybe someday I can afford the tier 3 speeds. That'll be so nice.

Anyone know why the price structure doesn't really reflect actual speeds? Or why there isn't an explanation for in their sales literature? I don't want to be picky, but I only got DataNet 500 speeds after switching to DataNet 1000. Go figure.

Do the Bandwidth meter check a couple of times Jeremy and I will look in to it for you.
It should read 856k or better here with the servers overhead. Do the tests over a few hours so I can build a time line.

......is there a way to give us comparisons in English for all of us 'puter users that don't know all the computer lingo??
Are the new modems better for us, the same or worse?? ..............see ya Mark

Very basically, yes it's worth the gas, and aggravation to exchange it. it clears up a lot of the little problems that plagued the old modems (so far :)
Go for it!

.......................well, I finally got the new modem box yesterday. I crawled around on the floor hooking up wires etc. for 2 hours & couldn't get the 'puter to work. That's why I 've been gone lately. The cable boys came out today & changed something out on the pole & **voila** here I am.
I'm going to like this box for 2 reasons:
1. The speed is the same as before when I was paying the 37.95 per month.
2. I rarely download stuff so I went for the 21.95 price.
The speed is the same for less money !! Halleluh!!
I'm going to REALLY like my cable bill a lot better when it comes in next time! .....................see ya Mark

I have the new box and the new low price. I can't tell a difference with the speed.
